In reply to Sandi.dk ………. I don’t know the answer to your question. I’ve never seen a large build up on the glass of a UV unit which runs 24/7. But that doen’t mean it can’t occur.

I bought the jeba uv-h24 for my 140 gl.
This unit has a glasstube glued inside the center, to stick the bulb in, so you can change the bulb without stopping the pump and disassemble the whole thing.
The bulb obviously does not get dirty since no water contact(smart)
but on the other hand I cant get to the glass inside the unit to clean it.
Cause its glued c”,)
Will this become a problem in time ?
Then I have to disassemble the unit anyway (sigh)
I like your new website design.

Thank you David. I’ve ordered the herbal 18watt unit. Your site is truly amazing. It’s obvious you’ve put your heart in to this. Thank you for your time and effort here.

In reply to SKMCDANIEL ……… Based on just the flow resriction you saw I would go with the larger 18 watt unit. When comparing units, be sure and consider the cost of new bulbs once a year.

This one doesn’t have the H in the listing title.

The Oase BioMaster 600 external aquarium filter has a maximum flow rate of 350 GPH (gallons per hour), which is equivalent to 1250 liters per hour (LPH).

OR I just saw your recommendation on
The Jebao UV Ultraviolet Sterilizer UV-H18 is an 18-watt clarifier.
Is this the correct one you are recommending?
Jebao PU-18 Koi Pond Aquarium UV Sterilizer Clarifier 18W?
I’m unclear what the PU stands for so I’m just trying to make sure I’m getting the correct one that’s not limiting the flow.

I appreciate your reply. I wasn’t measuring the output before or now so I’m not sure I can tell you that. My output is a little reduced, but I thought that was because I put a polishing cloth and Purigen in top tray. That being said what’s your recommendation for 55g tank with Oase Biomaster 600 canister filter?
Thank you for your expertise and recommendations. People appreciate your relentless help with responses.
Sincerely
SKMcDaniel

In reply to SKMcDaniel …………. You tell me. Has the introduction of 7Watt UV clarifier severely impacted the flow of your canister? If not then you are fine.

Small 9 watt and 13-watt units will restrict the flow of most canister filters far too much as they are too small of a diameter. So, a minimum of 18 watts for a UV unit in the aquarium is best if used as an in-line unit with a canister filter or a sump.

I have a 55g freshwater tank with an Oase Biomaster 600 canister filter. I added a Oase Clear Tronic UV clarifier 7w.

Is this sufficient or no not enough?

Thank you
